What happens to batteries in Recreational Vehicles?
05 October 2023
With the arrival of summer, motorhomes are one of the best alternatives for a complete holiday package. They combine accommodation and transportation in a single vehicle, making it the safest option as there is no stress of the pandemic that has plagued travelers in recent summers.
What happens to batteries in motorhomes?
Batteries used for motorhomes are divided into two categories:
• Engine starting batteries
• Batteries for powering various consumptions
In relation to the engine, starting batteries are chosen that have more and thinner plates, thus maximizing the total surface area of the plates exposed to the electrolyte.
Batteries that power various uses in the caravan, such as lighting, TV and microwave oven, have fewer but thicker plates, helping to provide a constant amount of power over a long period of time.
How do I choose motorhome batteries?
You can choose either a motor starter battery for your caravan and an additional deep discharge battery to be used as a power provider for electric vehicles, machinery and appliances, lighting and back-up power.
You can also choose a deep discharge and starting battery - dual use - for internal combustion engines, which will be used to start the engine and at the same time power the electrical devices and lighting.
STANDARD has made provision to meet the needs of its customers and provides both options for motorhome batteries.
